University Registrar

Karen Beckett is Associate Provost for Academic Support Services and University Registrar. The Office of the University Registrar is charged with the overseeing activities relating to course registration and enrollment, students’ academic records, course scheduling, classroom management, and academic systems maintenance. The main student services include transcript maintenance and delivery, degree posting and diplomas, and official enrollment/degree verification. Faculty services include course and grade rosters, testing services, and course evaluation. In addition, the Office of the University Registrar houses the Office of Classroom Management which oversees classroom scheduling and technological support of all General Purpose Classrooms. Veterans' Affairs is also housed in the office.

  • Academic Records

    The Office of the University Registrar provides information on how students can update in Canelink their citzenship status, gender, marital status, name, school/college or major, and social security number. Visit their website to learn more.

  • Classroom Management

    The Office of Classroom Management (OCM) within the Office of the University Registrar oversees the room scheduling software used for academic course scheduling in instructional spaces across the University of Miami enterprise. OCM manages all General-Purpose Classroom (GPC) academic and non-academic event scheduling, maintenance, and renovations. OCM staff provides classroom technology support for end-users assigned to any GPC. Visit their website to learn more.

  • Course and Curriculum

    The Course and Curriculum area within the Office of the University Registrar provides guidance and supports campus partners with class scheduling, curricular processes and procedures, and related topics. Responsibilities include: maintenance of the CaneLink Course Catalog; coordinating the annual process of reviewing and updating the Academic Bulletin; processing the workflow of CIM Courses and CIM Programs; oversight, guidance, and training on class scheduling in the CLSS Section Scheduler, and the creation of new subject codes and academic plan codes.   • Course Evaluation

    Testing and Evaluation Services provides central support, including online administration of faculty/course evaluations, survey form design, and summary report access. Faculty/course evaluation results will be available at the end of each term when final grades are released to students in CaneLink. Custom report features are available to designated administrators in the colleges and schools. During the designated evaluation period, students can complete surveys online or via their smart phones or mobile devices without any special set-up. Survey responses are anonymous.   • Testing Services

    Testing and Evaluation Services coordinates machine scanning and scoring of tests for faculty in all careers. This includes additional measurement and analysis of the tests. Visit their website to learn more.

  • Enrollment Services

    Enrollment services handles all student needs related to readmission, enrollment certifications, transcript requests, and applications for non-UM programs.   • Systems and Technology

    The Systems and Technology Department oversees the creation and maintenance of essential academic tools, including the Degree Progress Report and the Degree Planner. These tools empower students to track their academic progress and strategically plan their course schedules. The Department's role ensures the seamless integration and efficient operation of both tools, contributing to an enhanced overall academic experience for students and staff alike. 

  • Veterans' Services

    Veterans' Affairs supports student who utilize VA educational benefits to attend the University. If you are a U.S. military veteran, spouse, or dependent using educational benefits, you must contact the office to indicate your intention to use your benefits.
