Centers and Institutes

Academic centers and institutes are independent, specialized academic units that conduct research and scholarship and organize activities in a specific academic field or across disciplines. These units serve as hubs for collaboration, innovation, and advancement of knowledge.

Academic centers and institutes exist at both the University and School/College level and must be approved by the Faculty Senate to be established. Academic centers and institutes at the University level engage faculty across multiple disciplines and are overseen by the Provost, whereas School/College level units are overseen by the relevant school’s Dean.
