Student Success

Providing our students with an exceptional and transformative experience is at the core of our academic mission. Our aim is to prepare lifelong learners who thrive in a dynamic global context. In addition to our curriculum and extracurricular activities which are designed to provide foundational scholarship, we developed initiatives to emphasize the holistic development of students as they pursue their educational goals - Cane Commitment, Transitional Advising, and the Civically Engaged Graduate Fellows Program.
The Cane Commitment is an initiative designed to showcase the capabilities/skills and experiences undergraduate students acquire in and outside of the classroom. The Cane Commitment ensures that every UM graduate is prepared to succeed in the dynamic workplace and diverse society of today and tomorrow.
The Transitional Advising team provides support and resources for incoming students through first-semester course registration.

Civically Engaged Graduate Fellows will develop interdisciplinary curriculum models that incorporate public scholarship and community-based research.
